“Starfish” is one of those films that are not easily forgotten. Emotionally intense, mysteriously fascinating but decidedly cryptic, the work of English director/musician A.T. White definitely leaves his mark. Although it relies almost exclusively on the excellent performance of Virginia Gardner, the film is not focused on a single person but embraces a much broader context. The story begins with Aubrey (Gardner) going to the funeral of her best friend Grace; for her it is a pain that is difficult to bear because they shared many years of their lives together and their relationship probably went beyond friendship. In the evening, after the funeral, Aubrey goes to her friend's apartment, perhaps to remember many moments spent together, perhaps to better metabolise his absence. While browsing through Grace's things, he discovers some music cassettes which he begins to listen to; It's the middle of the night when Aubrey falls asleep but when she wakes up the next morning everything seems to have changed. The place is full of snow and there seems to be no one, absolutely no one... A must see at least once in your life.Read all
