The Australian director George Miller is the creator of the Mad Max saga (in the first three films starring Mel Gibson) which is made up, to date, of five films: Interceptor (1979); Interceptor - The Road Warrior (1981); Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome (1985); Mad Max: Fury Road (2015); Furiosa: a Mad Max saga (2024). The future of the saga seemed to have definitively disappeared but Miller, after thirty years, creates a true own masterpiece with “Fury Road” (it won 6 Oscars) and from that moment on the story and the characters come back into vogue. It took almost ten years for Miller to write and direct the prequel to "Fury Road", exclusively dedicated to the story of Furiosa who had already been a fundamental character in the previous film. This film describes the story of the Empress, from when she was a child until her final transformation into the character we met in “Fury Road”. We then move from Charlize Theron (her performance is absolutely unforgettable) to Alyla Browne who plays Furiosa as a child up to Anya Taylor-Joy who plays her as a girl and both two actresses prove to be definitely up to the task assigned. From an aesthetic and rhythmic point of view, "Furiosa" takes up, almost literally, the style of "Fury Road": great rhythm, well-finished action scenes, excellent soundstage. The film is a prequel that connects perfectly to the previous film: divided into five parts, it describes the history and adventures of Furiosa and will end with the Empress who, secretly, steals an armored tanker allowing Immortan Joe's five wives to escape (basically the beginning of “Fury Road”). I was hoping for more action and thrilling stunts, with less reliance on CGI and a stronger storyline. Instead, I found myself bored by the excessive dialogue. Also, the plot about how Furiosa escaped had significant gaps. Another thing is that Dementus came off as a glorified comedian and was hard to take seriously. The war is also shorter than expected. For me, it is still a decent film, but "Fury Road" is still better in many aspects. Read all

plot
