Bloody Swedes
The Swede Patrick Eklund is anything but naive (Oscar nominee and winner of several festivals) and in 2023 he directs this “Il Convegno”, a film that I wouldn't have given two cents to and which instead turns out to be a decent surprise .
There is nothing particularly astonishing, from the script to the performances, but this slasher is still professionally shot and manages to entertain a wider audience than the typical circle of horror enthusiasts .
The film struggles to get going but starting from the first murder it picks up the right cruising speed and allows you to have fun without falling into the banal or illogical.
<0 >Obviously the clichés are always present but they don't disturb that much and, all things considered, you end up loving some characters (one above all the old man with the beard).

I believe I have to judge the film not for belonging to the slasher genre (obviously it will never become a reference in the sector) but because it manages to entertain with careful and never over the top direction: recommended for an evening without fear or scares.
