Christopher Smith is an English director/screenwriter who found success among audiences and critics in 2006 with “Severance”, a decidedly interesting film that starts off almost like a comedy and continues in a horror style. Three years later Smith returns with what can be considered, without a shadow of a doubt, his writing masterpiece, this "Triangle" which will become, over the years, a cult of the highest order, unfortunately unknown to the masses. Played splendidly by Melissa George (in the lead role of Jessie), an actress accustomed to thriller/horror roles, the film is written in an excellent manner, with a structurally perfect screenplay where there are no inconsistencies or holes: a perfect mechanism that will make the spectator even several days after viewing. The story is a concentration of tension and mystery from the first to the last minute and is dotted with various symbolisms which, if well interpreted, can help in understanding the entire story. The story has as its protagonist Jessie, a young single mother who dedicates herself, body and soul, to Tommy, her little autistic son. Although Tommy represents Jessie's entire life, looking after the little one is not easy and takes away a lot of psychophysical energy from the mother, day by day. One Saturday morning Jessie goes to the pier, after leaving Tommy at school, to enjoy herself for a few hours in the company of her friends by taking a ride on the "Triangle" boat owned by one of them.
