Review of  Riccardo Simoncini Riccardo Simoncini
“People tell what they know, only that if they tell 10 words, then it is passed down to 15 words, then 50 words, in the end it is a little invented and a little true. Then go and see what is invented and what is true.” This is what we hear in the film from a group of modern-day hunters, the same ones who start the story by recalling an ancient popular legend. And in fact, this dazzling debut in fiction by the Italian duo Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis (already known for several documentaries that always talked about legends and stories) is about legends. Of stories that intersect and then break up. Of very distant times that are reconciled only in the moment of the oral story, of that sacred event of narration in which a person verbally stages a story, decorating it with his personal experience. With those words which, as hunters say, from 10 become 15 and then 50. Distorting and expanding. Stories now told orally, now set to music in the form of popular songs, now put on paper written in tiny travel diaries, now even implicit stories hidden in the heart of objects found underwater. King Crab develops like this, with a stratigraphy of stories and legends that mix like geologically different fragments of land. And in fact the story of the protagonist Luciano (the drunkard) starts right from there, from a legend, from that mixture of true and invented to which reference has already been made. In a small village in Tuscia that man juggles between the abstract world of the princes' court and the poor peasant world. As he is in love with a girl, who in turn seems to distance herself from that social binomial of high-low. In fact, Luciano (masterfully played by a magnetic Gabriele Silli, a plastic artist) seems to come from an alien planet, attractive and yet repugnant, almost Read all
Review of  Il Buio In Sala - Giuseppe Armellini Il Buio In Sala - Giuseppe Armellini
This is the story of a man who found a treasure in the sea. This is the story of a man who found a treasure in a lake. This is the story of a love, of something that confuses and collapses the past and the present, the sea and the lake, Tuscia and Argentina, her and him. This is the story of Luciano, the story of a cursed man who wanders around the villages and countryside of Tuscia. Luciano has no friends , he has no dreams, he has no past and he is ruining his future. Luciano drinks, he drinks continuously and people, people who in the end drink as much or more than him, are afraid to meet him. Luciano is a noble soul however, one of those who, even if they meet love before just touching her face, want time to pass, one of those who no, the Prince cannot forbid us to pass through there, this door must be broken down. He believes in ideals in which no one believes anymore and perhaps she drinks because she finds herself in a world in which those ideals will never return. But she is there, she is there to lie down in a wheat field and close her eyes, she is there to whisper things in her ear in a film, holy God, which makes whispering things in one's ear a beautiful thing, so beautiful, but so beautiful that it almost seems beautiful just as it is truly beautiful to whisper things in one's ear in this life of ours where whispering is now truly almost impossible, because it is too much noise around us or too few beautiful souls who can understand it. This is the love story of him and her, and it smells like a miracle to see it as a love story that almost doesn't exist, that is not consummated, that it's not even almost lived, it's not even almost declared, here, Read all
