The sleep curse of

When the filth (or it would be better to say the rubbish) of Hollywood horror creeps into interesting and fascinating cinemas like that of Hong Kong, it infects it, like a curse. Just like what happens in the film. The Sleep Curse and director Herman Yau seem to have no idea how to manage the timing of horror narration: long and uninteresting sequences alternate with more stimulating ones which, however, are nothing more than sparks in a chaos of boredom and monotony. Useless jump scares that can't even make people jump on their seats (which, at least, in Hollywood they know how to do, most of the time), post-produced special effects and hairpieces, especially the blood splashes that they are flat and annoying, they are interspersed, but only at the end, with good ideas that could arouse a sense of good disgust (especially in those who are not accustomed to horror) which, however, take on the role of the biblical "vox clamantis in desert ", they would like to indicate the way forward for the work but remain unheard. plot

In 1990, Neurologist Lam Sik-ka and his former flame suffer from the generational sleep curse that rooted in their both families war engagement during World War Two. Lam Sik-ka tries to save her flame from the grudge.
