Los Colonos/The Settlers shows the atrocities committed in Chile against Indians, racism, classism and a government that in reality does not aim to really settle the issue but is also concerned with aesthetics rather than the real and concrete problem in itself, therefore a story of how the Chilean state was born from blood, from the wrongs committed, from the classism of the landowners and of a government that does not really address the issue. The film has the visual power that a western requires, excellent scenarios, many medium-long shots constructed very well, photography that gives strength to the natural settings with the colors of the earth in prominence, careful and remarkable staging and therefore a very careful direction by Felipe Galvez Haberle capable of giving visual charge, breathing space to the story as if in a classic western.
