In 2019, shortly before the pandemic, a particular film was released, shot and written by the duo of David Guy Levy and Benjamin Epps and distributed by Gravitas Ventures. What is the so-called "Mandela effect"? It is a generic way of speaking that refers to false memory or false memories, a scientifically proven psychological phenomenon. Basically, these are memories that a large segment of the population possesses but which have no confirmation in objective reality, therefore people believe that a certain event occurred when, in reality, it never occurred or that details of images and/or photos are present when, in reality, they are completely absent. The film talks about this phenomenon. We are in the present day and a family has lost Sam, her only daughter, who drowned a few meters from the shore in an attempt to go and get her beloved stuffed monkey dragged out to sea by the waves. Brendan the father and Claire the mother try to carry on despite the immense pain; one day Brendan finds, among Sam's things, a very famous children's comic in the United States (The Berenstain Bears) and when talking with his brother-in-law Matt they are amazed by the fact that they both remembered that the family of bears, the protagonist of the comic, was called “The BerenstEin Bears”; after having done various searches on the Internet they surrender to reality: the bear family has always been called Berenstain and not Berestein... As if that wasn't enough, the couple clearly remember that Sam's monkey had a tail but, in reality, there is no trace of the tail.
