Mann's film begins with two panoramic shots, the first horizontal and the second vertical, which if you want to unite the two movements a cross is outlined which represents the end of the Mohicans but if you want to fantasize further it represents the end of a certain "Mannian" cinema made of constructions of very aesthetic images and scenarios, with even "unreal" color choices; sanctioning the birth of a "new" cinema for the director always of the highest level and always with great attention to the scenarios, to the colors but marked in a different way from before. The last of Mohicans/ The last of the Mohicans talks about the end of a certain era, that of the native peoples and the beginning of another, the advent of America born from blood. The clashes between the English and the French cause death, trigger revenge even among the native peoples forced to take sides and clash with each other, it is however, the white man who brings the tragedies begins. As always in Mann's cinema, time is a key concept, the characters race against time both to attempt rescues, waiting for reinforcements, in escapes and in general the director It tells the story of the end of a time and the beginning of another.
