The Baztan Trilogy (Part I): The Invisible Guardian of

Dolores Redondo is a Spanish writer, author of the so-called "Batzan Trilogy", three novels that have sold over three million copies worldwide. Batzan is a municipality in the Navarra region but it is also the name of the river that crosses the town of Elizondo and it is here that the first film based on the first book "El guardian invisible" takes place. The direction of the film, produced by the famous Spanish production house Atresmedia Cine, is entrusted to Fernando Gonzalez Molina born in Pamplona, the capital of Navarra and who better than him could film in his native places? The film was released in 2017 and the screenplay was written by Redondo herself together with Luiso Berdejo (already screenwriter of the "Rec" saga) and the two will also collaborate in the next two films. The cast, for all three films, is carefully chosen: inspector Amaia Salazar, the true protagonist of the trilogy, is played by the talented Marta Etura (already winner of the Goya award in 2009 with "Cell 211") who is joined by Carlo Librado as agent Jonan Etxaide, Elvira Minguez as Flora, Amaia's older sister, Pedro Casablanc (already seen in “Bajo la Rosa”) as Salazar's boss, Susi Sanchez as Amaia's mother and others all Spanish actors. The story begins one night when Inspector Amaia Salazar receives a phone call alerting her that a murder has been committed of a 13-year-old girl in Batzan. Amaia lives in Pamplona with her husband but is originally from Elizondo, a town crossed by the Batzan river and therefore is forced to return to her native places to begin the investigations. When the naked body of a teenage girl is found on the banks of the River Baztán, it is quickly linked to a similar murder one month before. Soon, rumours are flying in the nearby village of Elizondo.
