Robert Funny Orange of  Roberto Flauto Roberto Flauto
The last twenty minutes. Devastating. Painful. Robert Carmichael's The Great Ecstasy is an atypical work. High level cinema, impossible to classify. It has shades of A Clockwork Orange and Funny Games. There is violence, anger, the abyss, resignation. There is it is so empty. There is the inexorable. Above all, still, always, invisible and manifest, underground and glaring, there is it: the violence. The images still scream. Those sequences remain imprinted. Luckily, it is only a film .Is it just a movie? It's not perfect. Indeed. Didactic in many places, but it works. Some scenes are shot really well, the long plastic and "theatrical" scenes, classical music and techno. The ending, the last twenty minutes, the last scene, the inevitable. inevitable. Robert Carmichael's great ecstasy. The sun rising, in the last moments of the film, as well as the phrase that appears on the screen, I don't know why, but they hurt me so much. Read all

plot

In a small English coastal town, three teenage boys are drawn into a world of temptation and violence. Bored, troubled and excluded, the boys are unable to accept or even recognise moral boundaries. Their actions move inexorably towards a truly shocking act, that will horrify their sleepy community and expose its deepest, hidden fears.
