In Italy there are still those who obstinately believe it is possible to make genre cinema, something different from "art" films and comedies. The Manetti Bros have always been at the forefront. After their debut with Zora the Vampire, the quasi-noir of Piano 17, the science fiction of Wang's Arrival and the horror of Paura, this time the two brothers mix the cards, they move to Naples and blend together detective films, films about the Camorra, Neapolitan neo-melodic singers and comedy. At the center of the story is Paco Stillo (Alessandro Roja), a pianist with a diploma from the conservatory who, thanks to a recommendation, ends up ambushed by the State Police. His musical skills will be noticed by Inspector Cammarota (Paolo Sassanelli) who will decide to infiltrate the young man into the band that accompanies Lollo Love (Giampaolo Morelli), a neo-melodic singer who has been hired to perform at the wedding of the daughter of the boss of Somma Vesuviana. The police, in fact, know that Ciro Serracane, a ruthless killer whom Cammarota has been hunting for some time, will also be present at the ceremony. So from a shy pianist, polite, respectful of the rules and at war with the defects of his city, Paco will transform into a forced keyboard player and will end up discovering the great humanity of Lollo Love, he will find love and finally also his path. The potentially explosive subject handled by the Manettis has many advantages and, unfortunately, also some major defects. First of all, the two directors have an exceptional cast at their disposal, Roja frees himself from the role he wore in the Criminal Novel series and is perfect in embodying this well-educated young man who is uncomfortable in a Naples that does not respect any rules. The same goes for Morelli who makes Lollo Love more real than true neomelodic singers.
