Review of  Balkan Castevet Balkan Castevet
Joh Woo directs a film with practically no dialogue as the protagonist will suffer a shot in the throat. The father of the family will seek revenge on him by distorting his nature, he will train both physically and on the range to kill after a year the whole gang that has to do with the death of his son. Woo's direction is always very dynamic, even when there is no action the film is full of camera movements that mark the passage of time and sequence shots. For example, the camera movement away from the protagonist as night falls is excellent, making us understand his state of mind and the darkness that is penetrating him. The warm moments instead take place in the son's memories where the flashbacks show the happy life of the now family. Woo dedicates time to building the protagonist's state of mind and investigating him before dedicating himself to the action. In the third act the action will be widely shown and Woo manages it with mastery, always very dynamic and readable, the director's slow motion is inevitable but also the long shots which if desired wink at a certain type of more recent action. The action sequence in the car through the narrow streets is handled excellently and the sequence shot in the building is excellent. Given how the film is managed, it is true that the other characters have little space to express themselves, the whole gang, the main villain are in fact only functional to the context, they do not have their say or their depth; the same thing could be said of the detective who arrives in western style at the end and forms a couple with the protagonist. Woo just needs an exchange of glances to make everything understood and to make the scene believable even without a big construction behind it, but yes, more in-depth analysis towards the detective would have helped. The final scenario is impactful and meaningful to everyone Read all
