And here is the film you don't expect from Audiard. Having become internationally famous with The Prophet, and capable of crude works such as On My Lips and A Taste of Rust and Bones, he abandons himself to a truly unexpected tale of passions and loves. Even in this situation, however, his cinema holds. The story of 4 boys. Nothing particularly original, but a lightness of story that immerses the viewer scene after scene in the lives of these boys. Audiard never exceeds in sentimentality, but manages to make a romantic film. Paris, 13th arr. it is the demonstration that you can talk about love without necessarily being honeyed. Indeed, real life follows strange paths and often uses situations far removed from those to which cinema has accustomed us and Audiard manages to tell us this. A cast of little-known faces helps to create an effect of ordinary people. Well done Lucie Zhang who has the most complex character on her shoulders; definitely partly Makita Samba as the film's true object of desire. All defining the human kaleidoscope that is Paris today. Passed in competition at the last Cannes Film Festival Paris, 13th arr. it partly disappointed Audiard fans accustomed to harder cinema. However, his hand remains and despite some small flaws, the use of the split screen is quite useless for example, you leave the room satisfied with the vision.
