Summer 1970, Gaslight Addiction, Indiana. Four friends, an unforgettable summer full of events, mysteries, laughter, tears and adventures and with the promise of an unbreakable bond... forever! But as obviously happens, we grow up, paths diverge, promises are forgotten... or Almost. Because friends (it is said) meet in times of need and that promise that seemed to have been forgotten is honored even years later. This, in short, is Friends Forever, a classic for my generation, a film that I devoured every single time it was broadcast on TV. Not a masterpiece, but a small cult of the time. A simple film, but one that remains in your heart, especially when you identify with the young protagonists, hoping too to have such deep friendships... and if you were lucky even then, you saw yourself in at least one of the characters and therefore hoped that the lasting bond over time told in the film would have been a sort of prophecy for our friendships which in adolescence are sacred and important even more than the family itself. Seeing him again now, years later, left me with a veil of melancholy mixed with bitterness. Because I realize more and more that the concept of bonding has really changed today. The new generations would struggle to handle a film of this type, because they would be incapable of identifying with a story as simple as it is unique in its kind, a bond of friendship made of simplicity, of pure values.
