Review of  Balkan Castevet Balkan Castevet
Moon Garden is a horror-tinged fantasy that deals with couple conflicts experienced through the eyes of the little girl Emma. The direction by Ryan Stevens Harris dares very much, there is stop motion, animation, almost sci-fi moments with a look that almost goes from gothic to more cyberpunk moments; aesthetics are therefore very visible with very often pleasant and fascinating results, when using artisanal effects it is always a pleasure. When there is so much desire to show normality that in some situations the hand slips a little and one goes too far, the director is still only on his second feature film, one also notices an excess of video clip aesthetics that are not always so spot on, but without other things you notice a certain style and desire to do. The beginning of the film is actually not handled so well, the family quarrels of the couple Sara and Alex, Emma's parents, are not directed impeccably but just the film through the the very young protagonist enters a coma and turns towards fantasy, the direction is more at ease also because she can show her repertoire. It is interesting that the construction of the film is on three levels, the fantasy world experienced by little Emma in a coma, the real world with parents worried about their daughter's situation and memories that Emma will relive her journey. The whole path that Emma will undertake during her coma is full of strange situations, monsters but in fact these elements are part of her memories like the giant hippopotamus that recalls her stuffed animal. Very appreciable is the insistence that Harris places on listening objects such as the radio with the antenna that Emma will find but also the radio transmitter in the final moment which indicate a lack of listening by the parents towards what would be good for Emma .It is also no coincidence that during the journey Emma will first go into a hole, that is Read all
