Historical film enough. The Orthodox church (which declared Nicholas II's wife and children saints) protested when the film came out (2017, another Putin). Here Nicholas II is still young and falls in love (and how much!) with a dancer (who does everything to stay with him, even asking him to renounce the throne). Perhaps the intention of the regime, which financed the film, was to contribute to the discredit of the pre-Soviet imperial regime, in fact the lightheartedness of the one who is about to be crowned tsar is coupled with a future bride, of German origin, already inclined to turn to fortune tellers , well before meeting Rasputin. There is a true story, the dancer came to the liking of young Nicholas, but she certainly did not appear at the time of the coronation ceremony. Proper costumes, beautiful dancer, there is music but little ballet, many surprises. Film, as mentioned, enjoyable, indeed, the rating I assigned is precisely related to enjoyment. A professional critic would probably notice flaws, not only for what is not historical, but also for the extreme lightness of everything. However, the tragedy that certainly occurred many years after the meeting with the dancer remains, also favored by the climate that reigns at court, the inability to look at the true situation of the people, the too much self-confidence and the power possessed.
