Review of  Diego Cineriflessi Diego Cineriflessi
A playground opens and closes the film; the child driving the plot is a champion of Othello, a board game that became famous on the first personal computers; a toy airplane is the cause of everything. Fukada perhaps plays with destiny and the lives of his characters, but life is certainly never black or white like the pawns in Othello. His is a game of shades, lots of gray in opposition to black and white, with people who meet, clash and struggle to understand each other. Yet life, a great player, creates sad, complex situations, but which force us to move forward, to live, fight and seek happiness. Love Life is above all a screenplay film, a work in which difficult personal relationships are the absolute protagonists. Everyone seems to be looking for each other and at the same time rejecting each other. Yet it cannot be said that the protagonists are inconsistent, they are just coherently confused as modern man is. Everyone debates between tradition and modernity in relationships, between freedom and coherence, between love and escape from responsibilities. A perfect cast is the basis of a good package with refined direction and careful editing. Fukada manages to make the protagonists' apartments live by making the most of the narrow spaces with the room. It's probably missing a wing stroke to elevate it to the Olympus of great films, but Love Life is undoubtedly a film worth seeing because it enters deeply into the soul and delves deeply into the viewer. It doesn't judge, but shows what is sometimes hard to see and nowadays that's no small thing. At the Venice Film Festival it came out empty-handed, but it is certainly a work that deserved that stage. To be seen. Read all
