It is a nice surprise to find Luna Gualano again in Alice nella città five years after having seen, again at the same festival, her convincing Go home. In the meantime the coordinates within which the director moves have not changed and moreover it would be enough the mere presence of the Manetti Bros. among the producers confirms the nature of the project, an independent, low-budget film that winks at genre cinema but with a surreal and comic touch. The War of Tiburtino III has a The idea is simply brilliant, the aliens have landed in the neighborhood that gives the title to the film, the eastern outskirts of Rome and, as in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, they are taking possession of the local inhabitants with actually quite hilarious results. The situation will be saved by the most unlikely group of heroes imaginable. They are made up of the drug dealer Pinna (Antonio Bannò) with his inseparable friend Panettone (Federico Majorana) together with Chanel (Francesca Stagni) owner of the local gambling den. They will be joined by Lavinia Conte (Sveva Mariani ), an expert in fashion and beauty, obviously from Northern Rome. The cast is completed by Paola Minaccioni, Paolo Calabresi and in small roles by Francesco Pannofino and Carolina Crescentini. In short, the premises are exciting and The War of Tiburtino III, despite the obvious limitations financial, tries to fly high without being afraid to take the path of science fiction by combining it with a healthy social satire. The first doubt, however, concerns the setting of the film, deeply immersed in Roman reality. It is natural to ask how much can be understood outside of the ring road. Of course the eternal dispute between Northern Rome and the suburbs and the character of Lavinia Conte work on paper but there is always the risk that certain references, which are too specific and local, are not understood by the majority of the public. plot

In the "Tiburtino III" neighbourhood, in the outer suburbs of Rome, a small asteroid falls from the sky. In the following days, almost everyone in the suburb starts behaving inexplicably oddly: they all suck AA batteries. An improbable group of young characters finds out that many have been infected by some parasites and the aliens intend to conquer the whole world.
