Murder Mystery - Knives outA classic detective story that couldn't get more classic. At the first afternoon screening (in the original language) at the Intrastevere cinema (in the center of Rome), the audience was practically made up of only elderly people. Without this leading to judgments of any kind, this seems to be the type of target audience for the film. Dinner Party directed by Rian Johnson is in fact a classic mystery that couldn't be more classic whose points of reference are Cluedo, also mentioned in a joke, and obviously Agatha Christie. At the center of the film is the disappearance of Harlan Thrombey ( Christopher Plummer), a very rich crime writer, apparently committed suicide. Investigating the case are Lieutenant Elliot (Lakeith Stanfield) and Agent Wagner (Noah Segan) who are joined by the private investigator Benoît Blanc (Daniel Craig), hired anonymously. Relatives and servants gather around the dead man, composing the usual picture of a dysfunctional family in which everyone had excellent reasons to kill the writer. Thus, one after the other, the eldest daughter Linda (Jamie Lee Curtis) at the head of a real estate empire, her husband Richard (Don Johnson) and the other son of the writer Walt (Michael Shannon) busy running the family publishing house. And also her daughter-in-law Joni (Toni Colette), her grandson Hugh (Chris Evans) who is the black sheep of the family and the true protagonist of the story, Marta (Ana de Armas) the deceased's personal nurse.
