The baddest one wins. This is the premise of I care a lot, a very enjoyable film starring Rosamund Pike, who until now I have never seen in the role of the "good guy" but who knows how to play the bad guy very well!! I'm not there the good ones, this is the most attractive feature of this film by J Blakeson, something completely (or almost) new to me. I necessarily need to see the good triumph, I have to root for someone! But here we find ourselves waiting for everyone to come to a bad end, or at least, we hope that the baddest of the bad will suffer in the most atrocious suffering. Marla Grayson (Pike) is a cynical, ruthless businesswoman without any scruple. Her “job”? She pretends to be the legal guardian of poor elderly people without relatives whom she deceives with great skill and zero remorse. Taking advantage of the vulnerability of the poor unfortunates, she has them interned in specialized facilities and steals everything they own, having access (by law) to their assets. From houses to money, cars….EVERYTHING Marla finds, she disappears. While all this is deplorable to say the least, with great cunning and also thanks to the help of her partner and lover Fran (Gonzalez), everything always moves within the confines of legality. Marla is untouchable, her world belongs to her. But the good life of Marla and her partner is destined to undergo an abrupt change of course when they meet the wrong old lady. Jennifer Peterson (Wiest), a rich, kindly pensioner, apparently without relatives and alone, hides a dark and dangerous secret, she is the mother of an even more ruthless Russian mafia gangster (Dinklage) who will not be at all happy to find out what happened to the mother.
