Review of  Balkan Castevet Balkan Castevet
Horrorino on self-awareness, which explores toxic machismo within the world of catering where the protagonist chef must therefore make her way, is constantly prey to anguish, to the pressure to fulfill herself and truly become a head chef. 'a film with a mise-en-scène that isn't bad but which lacks the horror side. There's no great tension or atmosphere because even on an imaginative level a certain verve is missing. Yes, there is the concept of reevaluating the position of the witch, always with a view to subverting the chauvinist point of view but it is the horror element that is a little too stripped down to the bare bones. Even if it is not a jump scare film there are some, the usual two-three , inserted somewhat forcefully and therefore avoidable and in general even in the nightmare sequences one notices that the directorial duo, Bridget Savage Cole, Danielle Krudy, have little to show on the horror side. This is probably linked to the context of the film, that is the witch doesn't have to be a truly horrifying figure, but the fact remains that the film falls a little short of the suggestive element and strength it should have. Even the ending therefore isn't well defined for all the characters, who don't have a truly accomplished outcome such as Alvin, the handyman of the former witch's house, now a restaurant. Yes, it's ok not to go out of control in the staging and direct a "clean" film but which is too sparse in terms of horror and suggestions . Read all
Review of  Isabel Isabel
This film is incorrectly labeled as horror; it fits better in the suspense or mystery genres, featuring only a few mildly scary scenes. The storyline primarily centers on a chef's journey, leading to more appetite than fright. The pacing is quite slow, with drawn-out actions and dialogue stemming from a lack of substantial plot material—this narrative could have been condensed to 20-30 minutes. Although it maintains some engagement, the ending is very disappointing, indicating that the writer had difficulty crafting a resolution. Read all
