Review of  Giacomo Pescatore Giacomo Pescatore
A masterpiece that is not affected by the signs of time; sure, it has the slow pace of films of the past, but an epic certainly cannot be created with overexcited editing. The film narrates the events that led to the mythical challenge of the title, in a world where honor and family (and in fact the clash is between the Clantons and the Earps, the latter however with the resolution bonus of Doc Holliday) were put above everything; However, we know well that these are concepts that can also lead to a misrepresentation of justice... and it is no coincidence that the unheard voice of reason is that of one of the Earps' wives, when she calls them to face the Clantons together with other lawmen and to think about the safety of the city rather than personal revenge. It is also a film about the friendship and respect between two very different men, the upright lawman Wyatt Earp and the gambler and gunslinger Doc Holliday, in which stands out the gigantic interpretation of Kirk Douglas in the role of the latter. To be seen for pure pleasure or to study (the director Preston Sturges is among the greatest directors of westerns, also cited by Stephen King in his western fantasy series The Dark Tower ): just watch it.
