Review of  Emiliano Baglio Emiliano Baglio
GlassAn interesting and dense film, from a theoretical point of view, penalized by a disappointing visual performance. As everyone will remember, Split (2016) ended with the most classic twist typical of Shyamalan's cinema, namely the sudden appearance of David Dunn (Bruce Willis), protagonist of Unbreakable (2000). That ending not only built a bridge between the two films but left the door open for a third chapter. Glass therefore has first and foremost the task of completing a trilogy which perhaps is not a trilogy. In fact, we should know whether as far back as 2000 the director imagined an evolution of the events narrated in first feature film or whether this idea only occurred to him while he was working on Split. Whatever the case, the three titles, especially the first two, are extremely distant and different from each other. Unbreakable, several years in advance, was, in his opinion way, a story of superheroes, while Split took a different path, placing itself more in the field of thrillers. Glass, must find a way to make the two previous chapters coexist by finding a conclusion but, in reality, as we will see, in turn takes a completely different path. The film begins right where Split ended with Dunn on the trail of Kevin Crumb (James McAvoy), the criminal suffering from dissociative identity disorder who, at the end of the previous chapter, had brought out the personality of the Beast .When the two clash, they are promptly captured by the police and sent to a mental hospital where Mister Glass (Samuel L. Jackson), Dunn's antagonist seen in Unbreakable, is also locked up. Waiting for them in the facility is Dr. Staple (Sarah Paulson) determined to convince the three that they do not have superpowers. Meanwhile outside, Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy), Kevin's only survivor, Joseph (Spencer Treat Carl), Dunn's son and Mister Glass' mother, try to release the three patients.
