The incipit is a thrilling rebound in the atmosphere: for the first minutes of the film, in fact, it seems like traveling together with the astronaut, feeling all his fear as he sways in the space of the ineffable, experiencing the threat of nothingness. But the viewer knows perfectly well, however, that what appears to be a daring end is only the beginning of a narrative that will retrace the crucial moments of NASA's Apollo 11 Mission. Ryan Gosling, protagonist of this biopic, plays Neil Armstrong and, through his acting ability, makes this film decidedly powerful. The close-ups of his eyes, turned upwards or illuminated by the sunlight, remind us that hope is a daydream, as Aristotle stated. It must always aim upwards and try to grasp an object. In this film the object is the moon. No ego boost, but a mission to improve the world and advance knowledge, seems to be the main message of the film. The title brought to mind a biographical film on Camus, in which the writer, with the power of his fountain pen, was busy writing the work "Le Premier Homme" trying to describe the yearning in his heart and his gaze always turned towards the infinity of the human being. In an interview, Armstrong found himself saying, “I think we're going to the Moon because it's human nature to face challenges.
