I've never liked films with superheroes, I don't care about the Marvel or DC universe, especially since they have become mere mass-market products. Yet, in 2018, after DC had worked hard with “Suicide Squad” and “Justice League”, at a time when Marvel was coming off “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Black Panther”, an independent American production house, LD Entertainment, creates a beautiful and profound film that has led me to have greater respect for this particular type of film, especially when they are not derived from comics; Lionsgate distribution did the rest. Directed by the American director Julia Hart and convincingly played by the good actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, one of the best English interpreters of the new millennium, the film tells the story of Ruth, a woman who lives in a historical moment in which on Earth there is a extreme drought. Ruth has a power that she cannot control: she generates atmospheric events and earthquakes especially during the night, wherever she is. Because of this "power", scientists and the police are looking for her throughout the United States to subject her to studies and research. Ruth is tired of constantly running away and therefore decides to return to her mother Bo whom she has not seen for many years and after arriving at her destination she reunites with Lyla, her daughter, a little girl who had not yet met her mother in her presence. . Lyla and Bo also have a power: reversing entropy. It doesn't take long for the police to discover where Ruth is hiding and therefore an expedition is organized to catch her once and for all. Excellent film where superpower does not make us heroes or martyrs but acts as a breaking point between three generations of "superheroine" women: the mother Bo, the daughter Ruth and theRead all
