Let's face it right away: There's nothing wrong with Emily. A film about the life of one of the most unconventional writers in the history of world literature can only attract attention right from the trailer. But then you have to find a way to stage this story and debutant behind the camera Frances O'Connor struggles to find this path. More styles and more ideas than bc8nema seem to emerge, making the work decidedly unequal. There is no shortage of successful scenes capable of restoring the atmosphere dear to Bronte's readers (see that of the mask game), but as the film progresses, sadly the flounced skirts that spin in the wind increase and the work fades away and languishes towards the end. The protagonist, as well as most of the cast, works, but objectively for a British film it is the minimum wage, as are the costumes and set design. Unfortunately, however, the attempt to echo the atmosphere of Piano Lessons, which according to director Jane Campion herself, was inspired by Wuthering Heights, fails. The double loop from Bronte to Campion to return to a more modern Bronte fails and we are left with a work with some good scenes and little else. Sin. Read all
