Camus of  Maria Alario Maria Alario
How many times does reality appear irrational or mock us? How often do you risk "suffering with every breath"? Many, perhaps too many! And so this film, based on the biography of one of the most prestigious French philosophers, wants to remind the viewer that "another life is inevitable", that every day the greatness of a man must be trained through incessant search for the beauty that makes life worth living. Freedom, respect, equality, justice, love? They are only words empty of meaning if they are not capable of creating bridges between people. Camus, for example, hoped for a peaceful coexistence between Arabs and French in Algeria: his ability to enlighten consciences through words generated "not to divide, but to unite" earned him the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. In the bond between Camus and the women who loved him (and also those who resented him), the director manages to make the writer's soul resonate (thanks to the actor's excellent performance), even if I would have expected greater complexity in the dialogues, which are often broken too quickly. The hidden treasure of the film, in my opinion, in which we can find the essence of Camus' romanticism, is in the novel where the viewer glimpses him writing on some loose sheets of paper with a fountain pen, all the eagerness in his heart and gaze always turned towards infinity: Le Premier Homme.
