An unsettling authenticity of  Ruben Maria Soriquez Ruben Maria Soriquez
A masterpiece of Italian neorealism, a gem by Vittorio De Sica. After the war, a family man gets a much-needed job, but to do it he has to get a bicycle. When it is stolen from him, our protagonist will do anything to find it again because his family's livelihood depends on it. A story told with an astonishing realism that captures its dramatic immediacy also thanks to the excellent non-actors chosen by De Sica who give us proof of an unsettling authenticity. A simple story which however deals with a theme that is anything but simple: morality. Who wouldn't be willing to trample on some principles for the 'good' of their family? Once concluded, the suggestions of this film are deposited in our consciousness and remain there for a long time, asking us questions that are not easy to answer. Read all
