Antichrist tells the story of two spouses, whose name we will never know, but who we can call He (Willem Dafoe) and She (Charlotte Gainsbourg). One day, while they are having sex, their only son loses his life; an avoidable tragedy, if only they hadn't indulged in so much lust. She, in particular, is tormented by feelings of guilt and her husband, a psychotherapist, decides to take her into treatment, despite being aware of violating the code of ethics of her profession. The two go to their house in the woods, where she tries to face her fears, especially related to the alleged evil of nature. If the film's plot is simple, navigating the symbolism and allegories that populate it is much more complex.
