Review of  Diego Cineriflessi Diego Cineriflessi
If we think of the classic English film, 2 genres come to mind: the costume opera or the proletarian film genre that made Loach and Leigh famous. Barnard seems to be a writer of the second genre and takes inspiration above all from the second director. Barnard follows his protagonists closely, shadowing them as in the best European arthouse cinema. He never takes the camera away from the faces of his characters and scrutinizes them deeply. The result is an in-depth analysis of their feelings, of their life torn between desires and fears in a multiracial society, but made up of increasingly lonely individuals. Because the family is the cage of the protagonists. Both are suffocated by those around them, by their previous life choices and must seek compromises to start again. A complex society that requires complex solutions, even if the escape route is to dance with headphones on the hood of the car. Excellent performances by the protagonists. Akthar gives the right cheekiness to his character, sometimes over the top, but always open to others. Rushbrook, on the other hand, well supports a conflicted and complex character, with the desire to love on many fronts. A small film made of small things. Engaging even if it lacks that spark that makes us want to see it again. Sin Read all
