I write without hesitation that A Hero is a great film. Those who already know Farhadi's cinema will not be surprised by this work which perhaps surpasses the previous ones in terms of fluidity and continuity. A perfect screenplay that seems to be created in the face of inevitable choices. Farhadi's cinema is always extremely complex and when it is set in his Iran it moves confidently between ethics and morality. The protagonist is overwhelmed by events and everything that happens no longer seems to depend on him, because a small underlying lie can affect everything. But then where is the good? Where is evil found? It is difficult to discern with certainty because all men are always ready to get on the winner's bandwagon, but they are equally ready to unseat those who think they shouldn't be there. Because a small crack can destroy even the most solid monument. The film is monumental like the opening scene set in Xerxes' tomb, a metaphor and anticipation of what we will see in the film with the protagonist who climbs to the top of the tomb and immediately descends again. The protagonist Amir Jadidi is excellent, who is credible and convincing in the role of the convict looking for redemption. Equally in part the entire cast of supporting actors who form a chorus around the protagonist who remains increasingly alone even among people. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the last Cannes Film Festival A hero is an excellent film to start the year. A work that gives us hope, perhaps it won't appeal to those looking for a happy ending at all costs, but this is a film that must be seen to reconcile with the big screen. plot
