A great film, at the center of controversies (Melonian film, apologia for fascism and so on) that are both useless and out of place.
The film is in fact well made and narrates a historical episode as true as it is moving, in which the Italian commander of the title performed an act of courage and mercy (like the rest of his enemies; the English also did their part, which is not to be taken for granted given the little information available they had and their origins...).
A film about the sea, about men of the sea and about what is right to do when you see someone like you holding out his hand among the waves.
